Last Saturday, the Eagles awoke with an 8-0 record in blustery Mackinac City ready to take on a hearty Hamilton Inn breakfast followed by a late morning brunch with the Kzoo Eagles. The team had a look at Kalamazoo the on Friday when Walled Lake Northern beat them 2-0. Coach McElwee: "They looked like a hard skating team with a goalie that sees the puck well. Just the kind of team that we have not been putting away. So we gave the team a second challenge for the weekend. If we get up on them early then don't let them back off the mat."

Lakeland's line of Luke Weinberger, Timmy Hinkle and Austin Scanlon heeded the call combining for five of the Eagles' seven goals. Weinberger netted four goals, Scanlon one and Hinkle assisting on all five goals. All three players had five points with Weinberger scoring a natural hattie in the third period. Junior Brennan Grant notched a couple of goals as well, Brendan Day and Robby Lewis with assists.

Goalie Jason Slicker stopped 12 of 13 shots. Final score 7-1 Lakeland.

Coach Ronayne on the win: "It was nice to win one decisively. The kids strayed from our game plan in the second period but got back on track and put the game away. Kalamazoo never quit but we put the pedal down and the goals went in for us."
