Friday, the Varsity Softball team hosted Brighton in the 2021 home opener, the first softball games played at Lakeland since 2019. It was a wonderful debut for the 2021 Eagles, as the team soundly defeated Brighton in 2 games, 20-0 and 11-0.

In the first game, Lakeland secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fourth inning. Campbell Sherrill, Ashlyn Dostal, Grace Glossinger, Sophia Shaw, Payton Grange, and Natalie Gizoni each had RBIs in the frame. Glossinger and Gizoni both had HRs in the inning, with Gizoni's smashing off the scoreboard in center field.

In all, the Eagles tallied 22 hits in the game. Ambler, Mckenna Bergman, Shaw, Dostal, Gizoni, Glossinger, Sherrill, and Grange all managed multiple hits for Lakeland.

Summer Ambler was the winning pitcher for Lakeland Eagles Varsity. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero.

In the second game, three pitchers combined to get the 11-0 shutout, with Payton Grange finishing up the game on the mound.

The Eagles secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the second inning. Gizoni, Sherrill, Dostal, and Shaw powered the big inning with RBIs.

The team racked up 12 hits in the game with Grange and Dostal each collecting two hits
